We have launched a new visitor information website to make it easier for visitors (and residents) to access information. Previously, we had visitor information on the shop website but it was not as easy to navigate as it could be. Separating the shop website from the visitor information will make it easier for everyone, including us!
The site will be continually updated to provide the most accurate information we can. New sections will also be added in due course. It has local events calendar and business listings with current operating times as well as lots of other useful information on camping, activities and itineraries for the different parts of the islands.
It is an all-inclusive website - no-one has needed to pay to have their business on it. If you think of information, events, businesses etc... that would be useful to be included then please get in contact by email to visit.info@buthbharraigh.co.uk.
We have also been working on a new island map and are excited to announce that it has now been sent to the printers. It is currently available to download here for the whole islands and Castlebay.
Massive thanks to Coimhearsnachd Bharraidh agus Bhatarsaidh (Barra and Vatersay Community) Ltd for supporting this initiative, to Shona Gray for doing all the hard work in putting this together and to all the advertisers. These maps will come in A3 pads and will be distributed throughout Barra and Vatersay and will be made available to visitors free of charge.
