Allspice - available as whole berries or ground.


A full bodied, versatile spice which suits both sweet and savoury dishes.  It blends well with other spices and it the main component of jerk seasoning and Jamaican cuisine.


Works well in a beef or other red meat stew, especially tomoto based.  It can also added to rhubarb, stone fruits and sweet bakes just as you would add cinnamon, nutmeg or cloves.


It is grown in the Central Americas, Mexico and the West Indies, in particular Jamaica


In recipes allspice may also be called Jamaican Pepper, Clove Pepper or Pimento.
