The Refillery is now up and running and causing excitement among shoppers.

Today we are highlighting build your own muesli.

We have the basic recipe written on the board at the refillery and here are the wonderful ingredients you have to choose from. Make your own special recipe, to suit your own dietary requirments. Use buckwheat or millet flakes for a gluten-free version.

Cranberries, Currants, Medjoul Dates, Pitted Dates, Figs, Peach,

Other Items to add Caster, Demerara, Golden Granulated, Light Soft Brown,

Muscovado, Natural Sugar Substitute,

Wheatgerm, Oatbran

Mix and match the items you wish. I chose porridge oats, mixed nuts, coconut chips, superseed mix, cranberries, dates, apple rings and cinnamon.

Chop things that need to be chopped smaller then mix everything together and place in an air tight container. In an airtight container your mix will stay fresh for a month.

Alternatively, you can toast the seeds and nuts in a oven pre-heated to 160 degrees C for 10 minutes. Allow to cool before mixing with the other ingredients.

The whole mix which was 338g cost £1.59 (47p/100g). Prices will vary depending on your choices. For comparison Dorset Cereals are 53.6p/100g in the Co-op.

Have your special muesli mix for breakfast with a milk of your choice and top with fresh fruit if you wish. You can also soak overnight in fruit juice or milk for a breakfast with a different texture. A great breakfast to start the day!
